Started Australian Freestyle Combat Karate with Sensei Robert Reid, directed by Mick Nichols

1993

Earned Black Belt in Australian Freestyle Combat Karate

Attended John Will’s ‘Shootfighter 2000’ seminar series which led to an interest in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and visits to John Will's Shootfighting school in Geelong

Robert Reid creates his own style: Advanced Fighting Arts & Self Defence (AFAS)

1994

Earned 1st Dan Black Belt in Advanced Fighting Arts & Self Defence (AFAS)

Started enhancing weapon training with stick, blade, and flexible weapons with Guru Nino Pilla

1996

Earned 2nd Dan Black Belt in Advanced Fighting Arts & Self Defence (AFAS)

Started working in crowd control and personal protection

1998

August 1998 started taking private lessons from John Will in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This would continue for the next 10 years gaining Craig a mentor, coach, and friend

2000

Earned 3rd Dan Black Belt in Advanced Fighting Arts & Self Defence (AFAS)

2002

Started instructing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Taipan Muay Thai (now Greensborough Mixed Martial Arts)

2007

Earned Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

2009

A back injury halted Craig’s training with the recovery process providing an insight into the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu's leverage that translated into his teaching style

2011

‘Integrity BJJ’ is introduced as the group’s name

2012

Further injury recovery meant an evaluation of everything learnt over the last 20 years and brought on a focus of efficient body mechanics in training

Street Smart Combatives

Combining elements of Filipino Martial Arts, BJJ, Muay Thai, Aikido and situation awareness drills. Techniques used are developed for street smart self defence, anti-bullying applications and composure in threatening situations.

Highly efficient grappling using position control and leverage to submit opponents wearing a gi. ‘The gentle art’ is compared to a physical game of chess and allows a smaller or weaker person to successfully defend against a larger, stronger one.
